Come to Our Chai Kadai - to Express and Learn
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Chai Kadai Benches is a blog daily, a sort of a virtual magazine, that aims to bring together learners and encourage conversation. Reaching out is the first step to understand and bring about change. Through three very short three weeks we have seen some very interesting people submit articles, videos, and stories; to name a few, Kamayini (lawyer and activist), Ajay Jain (travel writer and photographer), Ahmed Sidhique (Screenwriter), and Sayujya Sankar (Writer and English Lit Student). I interviewed Damali Ayo (author, artist, performer, change-maker). We also have articles about Vedic Mathematics by Gaurav Tekriwal (The President of Vedic Maths Forum), and a report on the Adivasi Sangama 2008 with photographs given by Ullash Kumar R K (a famous environmental journalist). You can read the posts at http://www.chaikadai.wordpress.com

Why we started brewing Chai?

Arundhathi, Gitanjali, Malavika, and I got together a couple of months back and were playing around with the idea of a magazine that informs, gathers, and engages. We listed a whole lot of things a magazine reaching to the age group of 16 to 30 could probably have. Reviews, informative articles, stories, and advertisements on accomodation and courses could do the trick! Money, time, and effort entered the scene and we saw we couldn't really put together much in the random way four of us live. And here let me assert the word that defines the four of us - Randomness!

Few weeks back, the idea of a blog lit the fire beneath the kettles. Often, we hear that the world has gotten filled with a bunch of people who do not understand the worth of expression, revolution, or innovation any more. I salute the 70s and the 80s, but really strive to bring something I've seen work in the recent generations together. Four of us have grown up recognizing the diversity among the millions who have lived and live to this day. Through the simple course of our lives, we have gotten to know more and more people who are artistic, beautiful, innovative, honest, and are expressive. Chai Kadai Benches is a platform to bring together people to understand and thrive from this variety.

So, if you're battling with a new question, have written a new poem, are concerned about a particular issue, have a new event/website/book, or just want a place to shout out, join us at Chai Kadai Benches. You are always welcome! Our central aim is to learn, and to learn we think Conversation is the key. The first few days have been rickety and slow. However, we write this story to tell you the Chai in the kettle is for all who read this or hear about this. If you have a story to tell, email us at chaikadai@gmail.com As our sign off for the week, we request you to tell everyone and anyone about this blog.

Regards and love,
Samyuktha PC and the Chai Kadai People.
